Hematite
Most hematite on the market today is not the natural type. It is identical to real hematite - even the chemical composition is the same. The simulated material is used because it is easier to shape. If carrying out a "scratch" test on unglazed porcelain, real hematite leaves a red streak whereas the simulated leaves a grey streak.
Legend - Polished Hematite was traditionally used for magic mirrors which had the power to reflect back negativity. Roman soldiers were believed to rub the red powdered hematite on their bodies to make them invulnerable.
Properties - Said to be particularly effective at grounding and protecting. Harmonises mind, body and spirit. Dissolves negativity and prevents negative energies from entering the aura.
Description - Deep black with a metallic shine. Sold as temporary strung 40cm (approx) strands.
