It was brought to Europe by the Portuguese who obtained it from their trading bases in China. Jade is fairly porous and can accept a variety of dyes. It is heat treated to remove water and expand pore spaces which gives a nice uniform colour. Properties - Believed to bring inner serenity and patience. Description - These Jade beads have been dyed in various shades of lavender and violet. Sold as temporary strung 37-38cm (approx) strands.
